POLICE detectives in Oghara, Ethipoe West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Sunday killed three robbery suspects and arrested three suspected kidnappers in a neighbouring community during a gun battle.
Residents of the community in recent times have been groaning under the incidence incessant kidnapping and armed robbery.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects were arrested following the alarm raised by the community’s residents when the suspects attempted to kidnap a businessman in the area.
She said that the police, during an investigation that would lead to the arrest of others, engaged in gang of suspected robbers in neighbouring community in gun battle where the police killed three of them.
The police spokesperson maintained that the suspects – Akoni Christian, Blessing Isaiah and Godspower Ehvweriawe – had, upon interrogation, confessed their involvement in the various kidnappings in the area, just as she gave the assurance that the police would make the area uncomfortable for criminals.
