Nigeria: Customs seizes N28M smuggled frozen poultry

NIGERIA Customs Service said it has seized smuggled poultry products worth N28, 660,717 in the third week of its smuggling fight under Operation Hawk Descend.
The seizures which consist of 5,915 cartons of frozen poultry product, mostly conveyed in commercial vehicles was confiscated by Customs Officers around the South Western area of the country which consist of Badagry Creeks, Seme axis and Idiroko axis of Ogun state.
A statement from Joseph Attah, the Deputy Public Relations Officer said the breakdown of the seizures showed that Ogun State Command of Customs seized 2,800 cartons, the Federal Operation Unit, 2,561carons, the Western Marine Command, 455 cartons and the Seme Command - 99 cartons.
While commending the efforts of the operatives, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi, stressed the need for the smugglers to desist from such act that have negative consequences on the economy of the nation.
He further stated the Service commitment in bringing the activity of the smugglers to its barest minimum.
